Lapse in honey production

Enterprises producing honey can apply for compensation when losses due production failure are caused by climatic damages.
The cause of financial loss must be related to climatic damages one - as an enterprise - normally is unable insure against by means of regular insurance schemes.

  • Honey production failure

In order to grant compensation, reduction in production must be brought on as a consequence of climatic conditions the bee-keeper is unable to prevent, such as e.g. reduced blooming and/or poor weather conditions hindering flight. Normal variations and de-fluctuation in honey productions are not compensatory.

The enterprise must at the time the damage occurred be eligible for production subsidies.

Calculations on an eventual compensation is based upon documented production results and fixed national rates for compensation. The applicant is obliged to cover a loss of up to thirty per cent of his/her average annual production.

Applications are sent to the agricultural administration in the respective municipality no later than 31st of October the year the damage occurred.

The compensation scheme is regulated by means of by-law: (NO) Forskrift om erstatning og tilskudd ved klimabetingede skader i plante- og honningproduksjon.
